CHLOETA is Hiring a Master Planner (Sustainability, Climate Action and Resiliency) Near Oklahoma, OK

Job Summary

Chloeta is seeking a Master Planner to lead the development of a comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CAP) for a local jurisdiction. The successful candidate will play a key role in collaborating with city officials, stakeholders, and community members to create a roadmap for achieving ambitious greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction targets and enhancing resilience to climate change impacts.

Duty Station: Remote/virtual

Compensation

Chloeta reserves the right to offer any candidate above or below the listed compensation amount based on experience or business needs.

  • $40-$60 per hour

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Leads the development and implementation of the client’s Climate Action Plan in alignment with regional and city sustainability goals and initiatives.
  • Conducts a thorough review of existing regional and city sustainability plans, emissions inventories, and climate action strategies to inform the development of the CAP.
  • Collaborate with Chloeta’s project team, project clients and stakeholders to gather input and feedback for the CAP development process.
  • Develop emissions reduction scenarios, setting quantitative goals, milestones, and identifying technical, financial, policy, and behavioral requirements for implementation.
  • Design and conduct public engagement processes to solicit input and vet draft goals and strategies developed for the CAP.
  • Ensure alignment of the CAP with regional and city plans, incorporating feedback from stakeholders and community members.
  • Produce engaging, attractive, and easy-to-read internal staff and public-facing reports and presentations detailing the findings, goals, recommendations, and action plans of the CAP.
  • Develop dashboards and scoreboards for real-time visibility into the progress of the CAP implementation and performance against established goals and milestones.
  • Assess existing client systems for tracking and managing performance against the CAP and recommend improvements where necessary.
  • Work closely with client staff, consultants, and other stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the CAP and achievement of GHG reduction targets.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Proficiency in data analysis, GIS, emissions modeling, and other relevant software tools.
  • Knowledge of best practices, industry standards, and emerging trends in climate action planning and urban sustainability.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, with a strong commitment to delivering high-quality results on time and within budget.

Education and Experience

  • Required: Master's degree in urban planning, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field.
  • Required: At least 5 years of experience in urban planning, climate action planning, sustainability planning, or a related field, with a proven track record of successful project management and implementation.
  • Required: Strong understanding of greenhouse gas emissions drivers, climate change impacts, and resilience strategies at the local, regional, and state levels.
  • Preferred: Experience working with local governments, community organizations, and other stakeholders on sustainability and climate action initiatives.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, etc.

Due to the nature of Chloeta’s services, this position is contingent upon completing with a satisfactory outcome some or all of the following pre-employment background screenings: government security clearance, federal and state criminal background checks, drug test (urinalysis), Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) review, educational history, employment history, and/or credit check. In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), pre-employment background screenings will require the employee’s written authorization and will occur after acceptance of an offer of employment and prior to commencing work. Additionally, employees are required to complete the federal I-9/E-Verify process.
